hey ive just joined this forum
i think km 1.0 is great i am tryign to add some custom ships to kobashi maru
i would really liek to add albatrative armour such as that on the soverign and rhode island
ive had a go but could you please give me some advice as where to start becuase im am not sure if i have to add hull properties or not

Ablative armour is already on the soverign in KM 1.0, dunno if its already on the rhode island though.

sry i didnt meen on the soverign

i was tryign to modify the uss patriot aegis class to have the fed albatrative armour that was in km1.0 i meant i want to add the armour from the sovie to that ship
ive had a go but i ve jsut messed up my bcinstall lol

You can look at the files for the sovereign under scripts/Custom/ships to see how the ablative armor is set up, and you also have to add the systems to the hardpoint file through mpe (its easier through mpe anyway).

ive tried using the mpe
but im really confused in excatly how to add it like as what system etc
ive read the guides to use mpe and also the one thats included in the foundations tech
i had a go but then got the bsod for some reason
if theres a thread or anythign abotu how excalty you can add the armour using mpe it would be really appreciated im tryn to learn basics of modding bs so that i cud have sum input into the communtiy

thnks ive worked out how to add the armor and its workign nicely ingame
although not as good as the armor harpointed onto the soverign
the last question i have is where excatly must the armor be positioned
to protect areas of the ship
for example on the soverign no damage is incurred anywhere untill the armor is weakned
is the only was to achive a similar effect , to put the armor postioning just above the particular system that needs protecting sry if im a bit vague but im new to tmodding

usually the armor protects different areas of the hull, so it is placed forward, aft, dorsal and ventral. Just check the sovereign hp for positioning. Play with it.
